Here is the great combination! Everything we do on the exotic Cajun Swamp and Bayou Tour, PLUS a delightful lunch and two plantation tours.
After we visit the wildlife on the bayou at the Cajun village, we travel along beside another Louisiana bayou en route to the banks of the Mississippi and Oak Alley Plantation, where lunch is served. And the lunch – included with your tour – is a real Cajun delight, with Chicken and Andouie Gumbo, Garden Salad, fresh fruit, tasty Jambalaya, Red Beans n’ Rice, Chicken Fricassee, Vegetables, Homemade Rolls, and a mouth-watering Bread Pudding or Buttermilk Tarte – served in a unique plantation setting. (Lunch may vary.)
We’ll tour the home and beautiful grounds, entered from the quarter-mile alley of 28 Sheltering Live Oaks – almost 300 years old – which provided the plantation its name. Oak Alley has the best panoramic view of any plantation in the South.
Still traveling along the River Road, with sugar cane fields lining the road, we stop to tour Laura Plantation – where "Brer Rabbit" was born. Learn the real story of sugar cane plantation life at this fascinating home where four generations of women presided over the family business for nearly a century.
Then return to New Orleans and city life, but you’ll long remember the peaceful serenity of the country – nearby, yet a world away.
